Pilates Reformer Classes – What is all the fuss about?

At Move for Better Health, one of our key goals is to help you move more.

We offer a variety of supervised exercise options designed to cater to your current level of fitness or goals. Using Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, and Exercise Scientists for exercise supervision, we ensure you are in safe hands with all of our options.

This blog article focuses on the Pilates Reformer classes, which are crafted to improve your strength, mobility and balance.

What you need to know:

  • Reformer Classes are just one of the many exercise options at Move for Better Health
  • The Reformer is the most commonly used traditional Pilates machine in the world!
  • Unlike most Pilates Reformer studios, our classes are supervised by Physiotherapists, and all participants get to see a Physio before they start classes
  • Other than comfy clothing and some grip socks, you don’t need any special equipment to get you started

What sets Reformer Pilates apart?

Originally developed by Joseph Pilates, the Reformer is the most commonly used traditional Pilates machine in the world. In recent years it’s popularity has exploded with Reformer studios popping up all over the world.

At Move for Better Health, our Physios have been using Pilates Reformer exercises for nearly 30 years, for both rehabilitation and fitness.

Here are just some of the benefits of exercising in our Pilates Reformer Classes:

  • Targeted Results: Reformer Pilates can target muscles in key areas such as the abdominals, lower back, and pelvic floor
  • Improved Flexibility: Sessions include movements through full range of motion to improve your mobility
  • Get stronger: Adjustable resistance on the machine allows you to work at a level challenging enough to improve the strength of your arms, legs and trunk.
  • Mind-Body Connection: With experienced practitioners instructing every movement, you can focus on learning more about your body and how it feels
  • Safety first: Feel reassured by small class sizes (4-6 clients per class), and instructors who are experienced Physiotherapists

Ready to start your Pilates Reformer journey?

All you need to do is give us a call to book in for an Assessment with the Physiotherapist that will be running your class. This comprehensive Physio appointment includes an opportunity to discuss any health or other physical problems that you have had in the past that need to be addressed prior to attending classes, and also a physical assessment that checks your strength and flexibility. This assessment is one of the extra benefits of coming to a Pilates class that is run by a Physio!
