Patrick Carson

Clinical Psychologist at NLC Psychology

Patrick is a Clinical Psychologist with a special interest in treating post-traumatic stress disorder, chronic pain, and sleep issues, in addition to a wide variety of psychological conditions including depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorders, and psychological symptoms associated with Long COVID.

  • Qualifications: Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), Master of Psychology (Clinical)

After growing up in the Riverland, Patrick relocated to Adelaide a number of years ago to commence his Psychology studies. Patrick has always been fascinated by mental health and the positive or negative impact it can have on our lives, particularly after volunteering in his earlier years.

Patrick completed a Bachelor of Psychology (Honors) as well as a Masters of Psychology (Clinical) at Flinders University, and has completed the Clinical Registrar program to become a Clinical Psychologist. Patrick uses a variety of treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Processing therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.

Patrick has a range of experience working with adolescents and young adults, having worked within public Youth Mental Health teams. He also has experience working with adults experiencing chronic or persistent pain, or general psychological difficulties.

Due to the importance of sleep, and the significant impact the lack of sleep can have on our physical and mental health, Patrick particularly enjoys working with those experiencing sleep issues, like insomnia, waking during the night, or difficulty staying asleep.
