Juliana is passionate about health and the human body. She has experience in workplace injuries, chronic pain and general musculoskeletal disorders. She enjoys treating shoulder pain, and uses Neuromuscular Dry Needling and Yoga therapy to complement hands-on treatment. Her main goal is to educate, empower and inspire people with the knowledge and know how to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Juliana Portolesi has worked as a Physiotherapist in South Australia and the UK for over 10 years, both in a hospital and private practice setting. She has completed further studies in occupational health, and incorporates movement based therapy into her treatment. Her experience in occupational health allows her to help those recovering from workplace injuries and guide them back to their pre injury state and provides advice on ergonomic processes or set ups.
A special interest of Juliana’s is the interconnectedness of the human body and mind, which she has explored through her own studies and practice in Iyengar Yoga over the past 10 years. As a qualified Iyengar Yoga teacher, Juliana facilitates Move’s Yoga classes and courses, with a particular focus on precision and mindful movement.
Shoulder injuries are also a special interest to Juliana. She enjoys teaching patients about the complexities of this often-problematic area, looking at the whole body to identify the root of the patient’s pain.
Juliana has a strong enthusiasm for fitness and health, and utilises her clinical expertise to impact a person’s recovery and path to wellness. She also uses her training in Neuromuscular Dry Needling to complement manual therapies and exercise used for treatment. This form of Dry Needling focuses on releasing trigger points and stimulating the bodies own healing mechanisms and can be of particular use to those with cumulative or long-standing injuries.
