Senior Physiotherapist

Cathy has a long history as a Physiotherapist, with over 25 years experience in the allied health industry providing hands-on treatment and Pilates classes. She has undergone extensive training in the treatment of headaches and migraines, as well as Pilates.

  • Professional Achievements: Awarded the Gerry Beswick Memorial Prize (2012), Vice Chancellors’ Commendation (2012, 2013) and University Medal (2013) in Psychology at Flinders University, Fraser Mustard Centre & APA PhD scholarships 2014-2017

Cathy Johnson graduated as a Physiotherapist in 1986, and has spent over 25 years working in private practice, with a special interest in the treatment and rehabilitation of headaches, neck and back pain. During this time, she has undertaken extensive training in the Pilates Method.

Cathy also worked with Dean Watson at the Headache Clinic for over 8 years, gaining unique experience working alongside this internationally recognized expert in Physiotherapy management of headaches and migraines.

After seeing pronounced positive changes in the way her own mind worked after undertaking a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course, Cathy returned to university in 2011 to study psychology, and is now undertaking postgraduate work at Flinders University.

Her PhD thesis is looking at the effect of mindfulness training in secondary schools on preventing a range of disorders such as anxiety, depression and eating disorders.

Cathy continues her work as a Physiotherapist at Move through hands-on treatment and Pilates classes.
