Exercise for Type 2 Diabetes.

uType 2 Diabetes is a progressive condition where the body becomes resistant to the normal effects of insulin and/or gradually loses the capacity to produce enough insulin in the pancreas.

If left undiagnosed or poorly managed, diabetes can lead to stroke, limb amputations, kidney failure, visual impairments and coronary heart disease. We do not know exactly what causes Type 2 Diabetes however, it is associated with modifiable lifestyle risk factors and also has strong genetic and family related risk factors.

While there is currently no cure for Type 2 Diabetes, the condition can be managed through lifestyle modifications and medication.

For a person with Type 2 Diabetes, properly prescribed exercises can help:

  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Lower your blood pressure
  • Reduce your risk of heart disease
  • Reduce stress
