Exercise for Adolescents.

When adolescents or young adults are starting exercise or sport for the first time, it can be difficult to ensure they are not making themselves susceptible to injuries or strains. For both their short and long term health, it is important to ensure exercises are completed with correct technique, and the sport they are playing isn’t overloading their bodies.

After a thorough assessment of their physical capacity and medical history, we can develop a tailored exercise programme for adolescents or young adults to undertake in a 1:1 session or supervised Gym Classes.

These programmes can also be useful for those who simply need some guidance on where to start an exercise routine, or those involved in high level or high intensity sport.

What To Expect

To ensure our allied health professionals can provide an exercise programme which is appropriate for their needs, challenging, and helps them work towards their exercise goals, we generally require them to attend:

  • 1:1 Gym Assessment: where the instructor will ask about their medical history, past issues and fitness goals. They will also undertake a number of tests and assessments to get an overall picture of current levels of fitness. Following this assessment, the instructor will develop a personalized programme ready for 1:1s.
  • 1-2 Gym 1:1s: These 1:1 sessions are held in our Gym Studio, where they will be taken through the different exercises in your programme. This is an important part of the process, as it educates them on the proper technique required for each exercise, and what weights or settings are appropriate
  • Starting Classes: We have a wide range of times and days available for Gym classes which you can view here. To ensure maximum 1:1 attention and support, our classes are limited to 5 per session. We offer casual bookings (booking one class at a time) as well as recurring bookings (the same class each week).
